Simple Asian Coleslaw Recipe (Easy Dressing!)

This simple Asian Coleslaw Recipe is the easiest side salad you'll make all week. Just shredded cabbage tossed in a 5-ingredient sesame dressing. Ready in 15 minutes with very little chopping, it's packed with flavor, light, crunchy, and goes with just about anything. Perfect for busy nights, BBQs, or when you need a quick, delicious veggie side without the fuss.

Ingredients

Dressing Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup neutral oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Slaw Ingredients

  • 1 lb shredded cabbage and carrots mix
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • ¼ cup cilantro chopped
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds toasted
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place almonds and sesame seeds on a cookie sheet. Place in the oven for 5-8 minutes or until the nuts are just starting to brown and smelling toasted.

  • Add dressing ingredients to a jar and shake vigorously.
    ¼ cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoon toasted sesame oil, ¼ cup rice vinegar, ¼ cup neutral oil, 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Place shredded cabbage mix in a bowl or serving dish. Sprinkle on onions, cilantro, almonds, and seeds if using. Toss to distribute.

  • Pour half the dressing onto the salad. Toss and add more dressing as desired.

Notes

Tips & Tricks
  • If you have the time, make the dressing a day ahead to give the flavors a chance to meld. So good!
  • Toast the almonds and sesame seeds until just golden, but not burnt. Toasting them really add a lot of flavor and crunch to the salad.
  • Don't dress the salad until right before serving. It will get soggy if it sits in the dressing too long.
