Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  • 2.5 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt optional

Instructions

  • Rinse the rice until the water runs clear (or close) and drain well.
    2 cups jasmine rice
  • Add the rinsed rice, water, and salt to a pot. Cover with a lid (best if it is clear) and cook over medium-high heat, until it comes to a rapid simmer (it won’t quite boil, but should be getting close.
2.5 cups water, ½ teaspoon salt
  • Reduce to low heat so it is at a gentle simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Don’t remove the lid.
  • Remove from the heat and leave covered for an additional 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.

Notes

Tips & Tricks
  • Rinsing isn’t strictly required, but I prefer it, even a quick rinse.
  • Stick to medium high when bringing to a boil. Higher makes it more mushy.
  • Adding salt is optional, but I think it adds needed flavor.
