Why this recipe made the cut
Every recipe on Borrowed Bites gets tested, re-tested, and tasted by multiple groups to ensure it's something you can be proud to serve! Here's why this one earned its spot:
- It's super easy to make.
- You probably have all the ingredients on hand already.
- It lasts for weeks in the fridge, so you can keep it around for a long time.
- The simple Greek flavor goes with lots of dishes - quinoa, salad, gyros, etc.
Ingredients for Greek vinaigrette dressing

- Canola oil and extra virgin olive oil: We use both for the best balance of flavors.
- Red wine vinegar: Vinegar packs quite a punch, so you don't need much.
- Spices: You'll need garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried basil. Fresh herbs don't last well in this dressing, so I don't suggest substituting.
- Kosher salt and black pepper: To draw out all the other delicious flavors.

FAQs
Store in an airtight container in the fridge. I like to keep mine in a jar or a dressing bottle.
This dressing lasts at least 2-3 weeks in the fridge. However, we have kept ours up to a month and it was just fine. Be sure to check the color and smell of the dressing before use to ensure it is still good.
This dressing is excellent on most green salads, especially a traditional Greek salad recipe with feta, cucumbers, tomatoes, and kalamata olives. I also use this dressing on our grilled chicken gyro recipe and our delicious Greek quinoa salad (both linked above!). Try it on pasta salad or chicken salad too.
Both are often made with red wine vinegar. However, the spices are a bit different and Italian dressings often have added ingredients, such as fresh lemon juice, dijon mustard, red onion, or fresh garlic.

Tips & tricks
- Don't skip the olive oil. It adds really great flavor that is missed when you just use canola oil.
- Give the dressing a really good shake each time before using to recombine the oil, vinegar, and seasonings.
