The best part of July is ice cold drinks and frozen treats on a hot summer day! Two easy recipes I love to make this time of year are this Iced Tea Concentrate and this Homemade Lemonade Concentrate.

When we’re craving a frozen treat, one of our favorite ways to cool down is this creamy and amazing frozen lemonade! It’s very similar to the famous Chick-Fil-A frosted lemonade, but with that classic, extra delicious homemade lemonade taste.

Why this recipe is great

  • Just two ingredients and 5 minutes to make.
  • It’s flexible - You can use homemade lemonade concentrate or your favorite frozen one from the store.
  • Use a personal size blender or full blender.
  • This frosted lemonade recipe tastes like a copycat Chick-Fil-A frosted lemonade!
  • It's almost like lemonade soft serve - perfect way to beat the warm weather.

Ingredients for frozen lemonade

Vanilla ice cream and a jar of lemonade concentrate on a white marble countertop.
  • Lemonade concentrate: You can make a lemonade concentrate recipe at home, or use store-bought. Homemade is essentially a simple syrup full of lemon zest and fresh lemon juice. Either way, you will use the concentrate as-is without adding cold water to it.
  • Vanilla ice cream: For an extra creamy result, I suggest using a high quality brand of vanilla ice cream that holds up well. Where I live, my favorite brands are Tillamook and Private Selection (Kroger).

Hint: Frozen lemonade is the perfect summer drink to make in a single size blender, but if you’re making multiple servings at once just use a regular size blender.

FAQs

What is in Chick-Fil-A frozen lemonade?

Chick-Fil-A uses ice cream and tart lemonade in their frosted lemonade recipe. This one tastes very similar!

Can you buy frozen lemonade?

Yes! The best for this recipe is to make or buy frozen lemonade concentrate so that you get a lot of lemon flavor while keeping it thick and creamy.

Can I make frozen lemonade ahead?

Frozen lemonade is one of those drink recipes that is best served immediately. You can always store it in the freezer for a little bit, but eventually it will freeze over and lose its creamy consistency.

Tips and tricks

  • Use high quality ice cream. If it’s creamy and holds up well, so will your frosted lemonade. If it's grainy and melts easily, so will your frosted lemonade.
  • Choose a tasty lemonade concentrate. Homemade is my favorite because it adds that fresh lemon flavor you can’t buy.
