Why this recipe is great
- Perfectly creamy and flavorful, just like at Mexican restaurants!
- Easy to make in just 5 minutes, great for a quick weeknight recipe.
- No chopping! We have successfully made it in a blender, food processor, and immersion blender tool (see the equipment section below for links to our favorite tools).

Ingredients for avocado green salsa
A full list and ingredient quantities for creamy green salsa are in the recipe card below, but here are a few noteworthy tips:
- Avocado: A large, ripe avocado is best. We typically find hass avocados in our grocery store.
- Jalapeno peppers: These vary quite a bit in heat level and size. We use a medium size jalapeño pepper and usually remove the seeds, but you can leave them if you want it spicier. You can substitute with serrano peppers, but the flavor will be different and it will be spicier.
- Cilantro: This adds lots of fresh flavor, don't skip it.
- Lime: Fresh lime juice is a must! You can substitute with white vinegar, but we prefer the tart flavor of lime.
- Salt: Kosher salt is always our go-to.
- Cold water: This will loosen it up to the perfect consistency.
Helpful equipment
- Citrus juicer: Our favorite way to get fresh juice without messy hands.
- Blender: You can use any high-powered, high-speed blender for this.
- OR Food processor: You can use this instead of a blender.
- OR Immersion blender with a food processor attachment: This is our favorite tool for making a quick batch of salsa. Fast, dishwasher safe, and it fits just enough for 1 recipe.

Place the raw ingredients into your food processor or blender.
*Our favorite tool for this is an immersion blender with the food processor attachment.
Blend until smooth. Taste and add more salt if needed or a bit more water if it is too thick. When you scoop it with a chip, it should be loose enough to drip a little, but not runny like water.

FAQs
If your avocado is bright green and as hard as a rock, it isn't ripe yet. It may take 3-5 days on the counter to ripen. If it is super soft and very easy to indent with your finger, it is over ripe.
Perfectly ripe avocados are a dark color and slightly soft to the touch - not mushy, but soft enough to give under a little pressure. The color may vary, so rely on feel to determine ripeness.
Avocado green salsa can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Give it a good stir before using, and add a bit of fresh lime juice if you want to freshen it up.
This guacamole salsa is best served fresh and cannot be frozen.
Although guacamole and avocado salsa have a lot of the same ingredients, there is a key difference. Avocado salsa is a much thinner, blended dip, while guacamole is thicker and made by mashing avocados instead of blending them.
