The nice thing about these easy chicken sliders is that they do double duty. They can feed a family for dinner or be served as part of a game day spread or anywhere you need a tasty appetizer.
Generally little sandwiches come with the typical buffalo sauce or bbq sauce flavor profile. There's nothing wrong with those, but when you want something truly fantastic, these appetizer sandwiches are out of this world kind of delicious.
If you have yet to be introduced to hot honey sauce, let me be the first. It’s a crazy good sauce used not only on these small sandwiches but also, these full-sized spicy chicken sandwiches. (A crispy, tender chicken breast on a soft brioche bun. Yummy!)
If you are looking for even more snacks and drinks, I highly recommend making lemonade with this lemonade concentrate! It’s the perfect balance to the spicy honey!
🏅 Why these chicken sliders are great
- Addictive flavor - I can’t say it enough. This hot honey sauce is addictive!
- Easy to make - With a couple shortcut ingredients and only 15 minutes of hands-on time these are ready to pop in the oven!
- Everyone loves them - A truly excellent tailgating or party food! Absolutely perfect for the super bowl!
🥪 Ingredients
- Hawaiian Rolls: These are the chicken slider buns of choice because they are sturdy enough to hold the filling, yet tender and sweet. Soft dinner rolls will work if sweet rolls can't be found.
- Provolone Cheese: It’s the perfect melting cheese without overwhelming the flavors in the honey sauce, but Mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, or pepper jack cheese will work as well.
- Rotisserie Chicken: Shredded rotisserie chicken is the easiest option, but feel free to use any shredded chicken you prefer.
- Hot Honey Sauce: This sauce is next level AMAZING! It’s so delicious that I could eat it on everything.
- Coleslaw: There are a couple options here. 1) Dress bagged cabbage mix with ranch dressing or 2) Use your favorite coleslaw dressing recipe on tricolor coleslaw mix.
- Butter: Salted melted butter is preferable but if all you have is unsalted butter just add a pinch of salt.
- Spices: garlic powder, cayenne, and smoked paprika
🔪 How to make chicken sliders
Using a long serrated knife, cut the rolls in half keeping the rolls together. Do not separate them. Place the bottom buns into a sprayed 9 x 13 baking pan.
Layer cheese across the bottom half of the rolls.
In a large bowl mix the shredded chicken with the hot honey sauce. Layer evenly on top of the cheese layer.
Leave the top buns off. Bake for 15 minutes. Place the top buns on top. In a small bowl mix together butter and spices. With a pastry brush evenly distribute the butter mixture across the tops of the rolls. Bake for 15-20 more minutes until golden brown.
Remove the top set of rolls. Add coleslaw evenly over the chicken mixture.
Place buns back on and brush with extra butter if desired. Serve these delicious sliders while hot.
Pro tip: If the tops of the chicken sliders are getting too golden brown, lightly cover with aluminum foil until the sliders are heated through.
To make this a complete meal we like to serve them with potato wedges, chips, dill pickles, or fruit salad.
🙋 Questions and Answers
Sliders can be a bit tricky to hold until the next day. The best way is to keep the coleslaw off and place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When it’s time to reheat. Place individual sandwiches in a baking pan. Loosely cover with tinfoil at 425 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
Our go-to chicken for shredding is rotisserie chicken from Sam’s Club or Costco. However, boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs can be used instead.
If serving this for dinner, plan on 2-3 sliders per person. As an appetizer 1-2 should be enough depending on the total amount of food served.

Am I missing something? Where is the HONEY in this recipe????
Danielle says
I am sorry you are having a hard time finding it. In the recipe card there are the words "hot honey sauce" and they are underlined. When you click on those words they take you to the recipe for the hot honey sauce. The slider recipe requires a double recipe of the hot honey sauce. I hope that helps, but please let me know if there is anything else.
