Ingredients for strawberry lemonade

This recipe only requires a two ingredients! Ingredient quantities are in the recipe card below, but here are a few noteworthy tips.

Strawberries and lemonade on kitchen counter.
  • Lemonade: If you're using store-bought lemonade, choose one made with fresh lemons. Powdered lemonade flavoring always tastes artificial. Or use a homemade lemonade recipe that is made with freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar, and water.
  • Strawberries: Fresh, ripe strawberries are the best. The better the strawberry, the better the final product. Frozen strawberries will work in a pinch.

How to make easy strawberry lemonade

Follow these simple instructions for the best results:

  1. Pour the lemonade, whether store-bought or freshly squeezed, into a large pitcher. If you're making it from scratch, prepare it first and let it cool completely.
  2. Add the strawberries directly to the pitcher, then use an immersion blender to blend everything until no large pieces remain. Alternatively, you can use a regular blender, processing in batches based on the size of your machine.
  3. Now, this part is important for the best results - let it sit for at least 5 minutes to allow all the flavors to infuse. You can even leave it overnight in the fridge for an even richer flavor.

Hint: If you don't want any seeds or chunky bits in your fresh strawberry lemonade, strain it using a fine mesh strainer before pouring it into a serving pitcher filled with ice cubes.

Variations and substitutions

  • For the absolute best flavor, this homemade lemonade concentrate is the only option.
  • Instead of fresh fruit, you can use frozen strawberries. Just be sure to let them thaw a bit first.
  • Substitute with limeade for a tangy strawberry limeade drink.
  • For a fun sparkling beverage, try adding a splash of lemon-lime soda.
  • For a refreshing summer cocktail, add a splash of vodka or tequila.
  • For pretty presentation, add fresh lemon slices and fresh mint to the pitcher.

How to store

Store lemonade in a covered pitcher for 5-7 days. Before serving, stir to combine.

FAQ

Is pink lemonade and strawberry lemonade the same thing?

No, they are not the same thing. While strawberry lemonade does have a pink tint, it is not the same as traditional pink lemonade. The classic pink lemonade gets its color from dye.

What is strawberry lemonade made of?

The very best is made of fresh lemon juice, a little lemon zest, and fresh strawberries plus sweetener and water. Traditionally, the sweetener used is granulated sugar, although honey, maple syrup, and agave nectar can be used.

Tips and tricks

  • Wash fresh berries well before using them. Thaw frozen berries for half and hour to an hour before using.
  • Depending on the flavor of the berries, you may want to adjust the amount a little more or a little less.
