What is brown butter?
Brown butter is a delicious ingredient that is created when you continue to cook butter past its initial melting point. The solids and the liquids separate, and the solids turn golden brown while the water evaporates. You can cook it more or less depending on depth of flavor preference- the darker, the more nutty and flavorful!

FAQ
Brown butter ranges from a light golden to a darker amber brown. The darker it goes, the more flavorful. Depending on the recipe and your preferred flavor profiles, you can customize it to your liking! Just pull it off sooner if you want only small hints of nuttiness, and leave it on until darker brown if you want the full effect.
Did the flakes of milk solids go brown and then black? If so, your brown butter is likely burnt. Another indicator is smell. It should be a beautiful nutty aroma. If it has turned pungent, it is likely burnt. We recommend throwing away burnt butter and starting over.
